Market selects new leadership

Marilyn Meyn

The Ponchatoula Country Market has elected Marilyn Meyn as president of its Board of Directors. Meyn will replace longtime Market President Margie Marcombe. Marcombe died suddenly in July, which prompted a special election.

Meyn is a Country Market board member and has served on other nonprofit boards. She also is a vendor in the Market.

“It is an absolute honor to serve the Ponchatoula Country Market in this capacity,” said Meyn. “I have big shoes to fill. Margie was beloved in both the Market and the community.”

Marcombe had been a vendor in the Market for 30 years. Her daughter Aimee is still a vendor and board member. The Board is now implementing beautification projects that will be dedicated to Marcombe’s memory.

The Ponchatoula Country Market Inc. was formed in 1973. Its mission is to provide a place for locals to display and sell handmade, homegrown & collectible items, and to maintain the historic depot building that houses the Country Market.
